FAQ

It was an itch that the founder Kit Sadgrove had to scratch.
He was struck by the folly of having such a weird number pad on his computer keyboard.
It made no sense to him to have the logical 1,2,3 number pad on his phone, and a completely different 7-8-9 layout on his computer keyboard.
And so, after mulling over the problem and doing research, he decided to create the world's first logical keyboard.

We haven't got a price for it yet. It's likely to be in the region of $100, £75 or €87, plus delivery. Please bear in mind this is exclusive, small-scale production which costs more than off the shelf standard keyboards.

In the short term, it will be grey/black. We may have other colours later.

It was designed in Britain, the PCB and firmware was created in Islamabad, Pakistan. It was prototyped in the UK, and the manufacturing will be in China or Vietnam.

It will be sold initially through Kickstarter, hopefully from September 2025, with delivery in November. Sign up to our mailing list for news and dates.

Not in the short term. But I will be creating videos that demonstrate the keyboard.

We aim to provide Mac keys.

There are two types of people: those who are so used to the 7,8,9 layout that they can't change. In particular, it's people who can touch type. And we know that.
But some of the rest of us simply find the 7,8,9 number pad confusing - in fact, we tend not to use it.
And once you've got your fingers on a 1,2,3 number pad, you'll quickly get used to it. And you'll become more productive.

Maybe in the future.

I understand. This keyboard won't suit everybody.

It'll be easier than you think.

Every day, you use your phone's number pad to make calls, so your brain is already wired that way.

And counting from 1 to 9 is more logical than counting down.

Once you've tapped in a few numbers on the itsio pad, you'll wonder why you put up with the wrong layout for so long.

Yes, technically that's possible. But you'll need expertise, spare time, and some money. First, let's assume you've got a keyboard capable of being modded. You then re-map the keys, using appropriate software, and taking care about the risks of virus-laden third-party software. You can then pull the keys out and swap their places. But that leaves the arrow keys, and the home, end and pageup / pagedown keys in the wrong place. So you'll have to design your own keycap artwork, and get the keys printed.
It may not look pretty, but at least you'll have achieved your goal without a mishap, hopefully.
Alternatively, just buy a gorgeous itsio keyboard!

Sure. We can supply a free keyboard for relevant influencers. Just drop us an email.

Great. Just send us a message using the contact page.

At present I don't know how many people will want to buy the itsio keyboard. Through Kickstarter pledges, I'll know how many to make. Also, you don't get charged unless the keyboard reaches its target.
Here are the Kickstarter rules: If the project you’re backing is successfully funded, your card will be charged when the campaign reaches its funding deadline. When a campaign ends without reaching its funding goal, your card will never be charged. Similarly, if a project is canceled before it reaches its campaign deadline, then your pledge will not be collected and no additional action will be required. If you are Late Pledging to a project after its campaign has ended successfully, your card will be charged immediately.
Not yet. But if you sign up for more information here on itsio.com, I'll email you when it becomes available.
